Title IX

Title IX is a civil rights law that prohibits schools or educational programs that receive federal assistance from discrimination.

The Schuylkill Valley School District affirms that no person shall, on the basis of race, color, age, creed, religion, sex, sexual orientation, ancestry, national origin, marital status, genetic information, pregnancy or handicap/disability be excluded from participation in, be denied the benefits of, or be subjected to discrimination in any educational program or activity. In addition, no person shall, on any of these bases, be excluded from participation in, be denied the benefits of, or be subjected to discrimination in employment, or recruitment, or consideration, or selection therefore, whether full-time or part-time, under any educational program or activity operated by the school district. The district shall make reasonable accommodations for qualified individuals with disabilities upon request.

Athletics

A school entity shall annually submit information to the department regarding interscholastic athletic opportunities and treatment for male and female secondary school students for the preceding school year.

No later than November 1 of each year, a school entity shall make a copy of the completed disclosure form available for public inspection during regular business hours, including on any publicly accessible website of the school entity. 24 Pa. C.S. § 16-1603-C
